I received a webinar invite in the morning from a company called Taptera that I have never heard of and have not interacted with. I am not a big fan of cold emails, but the email layout looked decent which prompted me to click through into their website.

I looked through the email and clicked through into the website which is what they likely wanted me to do. I just looked through their pages and did NOTHING ELSE.

30 seconds later, I receive this email below which says “Thank you for your inquiry!”.

This email should have triggered only if someone filled in their contact form. Instead it is triggering on just a website visit.

This is a fine example of how NOT to use Marketing Automation and highlights the danger of putting marketing firepower in the hands of rookies. This might be happening in your marketing infrastructure and you may not even know it.
