Marketo and Email Deliverability

Uncategorized on February 25th, 2011 1 Comment

Marketo has designed new rules that should improve email deliverability and is going live March 5th. With these changes, once a lead gets unsubscribed in the system, it will be harder (or not possible) to get it back into a “subscribe” status. This should help increase reputation scores with Return Path, gmail and other email [...]

Twitter Hashtag Search on Google

Uncategorized on December 9th, 2010 No Comments

Despite the real-time search that Google does by pulling data from Twitter, it is doing a very poor job of showing search results for Twitter hashtags. It is completely off track for the example below. #networkconf refers to a conference and Google thinks I am looking for TCP/IP configuration info.

Congrats to Google on its acquisition of ITA software. The timing couldn’t be better, with the July 4th weekend coming up when ITA’s software is chugging along harder than usual. Uncategorized on September 4th, 2009 No Comments

I use Google Trends for understanding the popularity of a wide variety of phenomena. For example, it’s a good tool for getting a rough idea of relative market size. An useful tool. Changes to Google ad scoring algorithm

Uncategorized on October 31st, 2008 No Comments

Google has announced changes to its ad scoring algorithm. This decoupling meant that higher position ads got higher ratings, since they were more “visible” to users and hence got [...]

Linkedin Apps

Uncategorized on October 30th, 2008 No Comments

Linkedin today announced that they are allowing users to add applications to their profiles. This is a move a-la facebook and Orkut. I would expect a significant increase in traffic (Page views) for Linkedin with users now logging in to see the new blog post or slide presentations of their friends. Linkedin has the following [...]
