According to Forrester, Ad spend on Social Media is the fastest growing segment in interactive marketing with a Compounded Annual Growth Rate of 34% and is expected to increase from $700mn in 2009 to 3.1bn in 2014.

This is not surprising given the massive growth that Facebook and Twitter are seeing in their user base. As they develop more robust ad platforms and formats, it is critical for advertisers to be there as these are launched and put a stake in the ground.
